 How to Configure Baseline Shield for Windows Update

  Reboot and Restore Keeps the Systems Clean

Restore and Restore Products reset PC workstations to its baseline configuration during restart. It lets PC workstations to start-up fully functional and with their desired system configurations. Regardless of what user may attempt to do, including erasing files, installing software, downloading programs or deliberately tampering with registry settings, workstations will rollback to their desired settings upon restart. Restore and Restore is an ideal solution for schools, libraries or Internet Cafes where the PC workstations are shared by multiple users.
 

Windows Update Keeps the Systems Safe

PCs connected to the Internet are facing constant threat from viruses, spyware and other malware. Microsoft and antivirus providers are scrambling to put out new system updates and virus definition updates almost everyday to patch the security threats. This is how Baseline Shield handles Windows updates or other system updates:
  1. Apply Windows updates
  2. Expand the baseline to include the updates

    Advantages:

  • Apply Windows updates without disabling protection. Having ability to "back-out the changes" if the updates failed.
  • Easy and fast.
  • Set it and forget it.

    Example:
    1.   You have a lab of 40 workstations, you need the PCs to restore to a clean baseline at reboot.
    2.   You schedule the workstations to apply Windows updates, virus updates or other various  
          updates every Sunday from 10am to 12am.

     Baseline Shield Configurations:

    a.   Select "Restore baseline at restart".

    b.   Select "Set time to temporarily suspend restore for recursive system updates" and set the time as
          Sunday 10am to 12am.

    c.   Select "Update baseline to include system updates before resuming restore".
